Dr Pelin Candarlioglu

 

 

 

 

Dr Pelin Candarlioglu is the Chair of Industry Advisory Board at EUROoCS and a Bioengineer at GSK responsible for validating and embedding new Organ On a Chip platforms into drug discovery workflow. Dr Candarlioglu conducted her PhD at The Imperial college London in Bone Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine.  She has co-authored publications referring to Organ on a Chip and microfluidics platforms.

Dr Doris Wilflingseder

 

 

 

Dr Doris Wilflingseder is The Deputy Director at the Division of Hygiene and Medical Microbiology at the Medical University of Innsbruck, Austria. She completed her PhD in Zoology/Immunology/Cell Biology in 2000. She won an ‘Austrian Microbiology’ award in 2008 and has taken part in research consisting of Immunology and Virology such as in HIV infection and its mechanisms.

Professor Øyvind Halaas teaches Nanomedicine at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Specialising in cancer immunotherapy, Professor Halaas has co-authored several publications such as one concerning ‘The intercell dynamics of T cells and dendritic cells in a lymph node-on-a-chip flow device’. The professor and his team focus on using tissue-on--chip apparatus to simulate some functions of the immune system, such as T cell development, in order to investigate effective methods of immunotherapy.

Prof Yeong Wai Yee

 

 

 

 

 

Associate professor Yeong Wai Yee based in Nanyang Technological University is an expert in 3D printing and bioprinting technologies. She has authored more than 150 technical papers, including 15 highly cited works. She is the Program Director at the Singapore Centre in 3D Printing and has been listed in Singapore 100 women in tech. Her research covers topics including Vat Polymerization based bioprinting and metallic powder-bed based 3D printing of cellular scaffolds.

Dr Armin Wolf

Dr Armin Wolf is Chief Scientific Officer at Insphero AG and Professor of Toxicology at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern. He did his PhD at DKFZ German Cancer Research Centre on the mechanisms of chemical hepatocarcinogenesis. Dr Wolf has over 30 years of experience in the Toxicology field including at Janssen and Novartis where he acted as the Head of Biochemical and Cellular Toxicology. This involved in overseeing complex in-vivo and in-vitro toxicology studies as well as safety profiling of developmental compounds and drugs

Emerging technologies for animal replacement/animal-free media alternatives - November 11th

Dr Carol Treasure

 

 

 

Dr Carol Treasure is the Chair of Trustees for FRAME and the founder and CEO of XCellR8, an animal free in-vitro testing lab. XCellR8 has been involved in testing and development with several large cosmetics companies such as Lush and The Body Shop. She received her PhD from the University of Nottingham in Cell Biology. Dr Treasure has extensive experience in animal free in vitro systems, having been Manager of European Operations for Cascade Biologics, an animal product-free cell culture system company.
